HELENA -- As warmer weather approaches and greenery begins to escape winter’s gloomy grasp, community gardens across the Helena area are getting ready for gardeners. Darby Bramble, Coordinator for the Helena Community Gardens, said she's seen an increased interest in people acquiring plots across the 10 community gardens in the Helena area this year.

"What we're seeing across the community is a desire to be self-sustaining. To know where our food comes from," said Bramble. "The interest in growing our own food in our community gardens, I think we're seeing at about a 10-15% increase in interest in our garden plots.

Bramble said plots are still available across the Helena Community Gardens network and fee waivers are available for those who aren't able to cover the cost of the plot in one of the gardens.
