A nearly 100-pound tortoise managed to escape his home last month in Colorado before animal control was able to capture him.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office shared a video and a funny post after the Sulcata tortoise named Lard successfully freed himself from his fenced-in yard and started wandering around the neighborhood on Aug. 31.
Someone reported Lard to the sheriff's office and an animal control officer responded.
The sheriff's office said Lard escaped "with big travel plans and absolutely no sense of urgency."

"Lard headed out for a neighborhood adventure. Lard’s owner was on scene, but efforts to negotiate a voluntary return were unsuccessful. Home was in one direction. Lard preferred the other," the sheriff's office wrote.
The animal control officer and a bystander lift him up and return Lard home safely.
"Sometimes helping an animal means lending a hand. This time, it took a few," the post reads.
