Strong Winds Today Can Cause Hazardous Conditions!

A HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect for much of Montana through Wednesday afternoon.

A RED FLAG WARNING has been issued for central and south-central Montana for today until 6 pm.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for the Logan Pass, Browning, and Heart Butte until 11 am today.

Today's temperatures will stay above average, and gusty winds will continue to blow over the entire state, causing blowing dust & dirt. The high temperatures for today will range between the 40's and 50' s, and a mild mix of rain/snow showers will fall in the lower elevations; snow showers will occur in the mountains, and there is a chance of isolated thunderstorms in eastern Montana. The winds will be coming from the west and will be sustained between 20-50 mph at times and will be gusting up to 75mph. In south-central and southeast Montana, dangerous fire weather conditions are likely with strong gusty winds, low humidity, warm temperatures, and lack of snowpack on the ground. During the evening hours, the wind will take a break, and tomorrow will be a pleasant yet breezy day. As a high-pressure system builds over the state, it will create beautiful conditions for tomorrow and Friday. In south-central and southeast Montana, dangerous fire weather conditions are likely with strong gusty wind, low humidity, warming temperatures, and lack of snowpack on the ground.
