Special Weather Statement issued July 31 at 11:24PM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT

At 1121 PM MDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from 13 miles west of Choteau to near Fort
Shaw to 22 miles southeast of Cascade. Movement was northeast at 35
mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and brief heavy rain are expected from all
of these storms, but half inch hail is also possible from the storms
northwest of Great Falls.

Locations impacted include…
Great Falls, Conrad, Choteau, Fairfield, Belt, Dutton, Fort Shaw,
Brady, Black Eagle, Fort Shaw, Power, Floweree, Eden, Stockett, First
Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park, Ulm, Portage, Sluice Boxes State
Park, Malmstrom Afb and Tracy.

Those leaving the Montana State Fair in Great Falls are in the path
of these storms and should prepare for the expected weather
conditions. Wind gusts of 40 mph have already been reported at the
Great Falls International Airport.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

shelter inside a building or vehicle.
