Happy Friday! This weekend, don’t forget to set your clocks back. It’s the longest weekend of the year, and this upcoming weather looks ideal for catching an extra hour of sleep.
There are a number of factors contributing to inclement weather this weekend. A HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect for the Rocky Mountain Front and parts of central Montana, including Great Falls and Helena. High winds will pick up late-morning, increasing this afternoon, and finally dying down after sunset tonight. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for parts of Cascade and Meagher Counties, along Hwy 89, including Kings Hill Pass. Snowfall in conjunction with high winds will create difficult travel conditions. Continuing with winter weather- a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY and a WINTER STORM WARNING have been issued for northeast Montana, where snow has already begun to fall.
Wet and windy conditions will prevail today. The second round of rain + high-elevation snow will arrive later this afternoon, continuing through the evening. Portions Southwest Montana, including the Capital, could potentially wake up to some residual rainfall Saturday morning, but that will clear out by the afternoon. However, soon after there will be another blast of rain/ snow mix on Sunday which will transition to snow by next week.
Enjoy the extra- long weekend!
