A Fine Start to Fall

Posted
and last updated

Tuesday is the first day of autumn and pretty pleasant weather will be found across Montana. While the smoke cleared out on Sunday, skies will be a little hazier as the wind turns to the southwest and directs some smoke from fires in California back into Montana. A weak front will pass with partly cloudy skies and a few isolated showers and thunderstorms. Most of the state will be dry. Wednesday will be another pleasant day with partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the 70s. Another front will push through Montana on Thursday. Most of the rain showers will fall close to and west of the Continental Divide. Most of the wind will occur east of the Divide. Strong gusts could top 40mph, and considering how dry the state has been recently, please watch out for the fire danger. Friday will certainly feel like fall with mostly cloudy skies, scattered showers mainly near the mountains, cool temperatures and a lot of wind. This weekend will start out mostly cloudy and windy with cool temperatures again on Saturday. Sunday will have a little more sunshine with warmer temperatures, but the wind will continue. A few showers are likely across northcentral and northeast Montana. There does not appear to be any big, cold and wet storms that would put an end to fire season anytime soon.
Have a great day.
