HELENA — Snow is falling and conditions are deteriorating in the Helena valley. Drivers are advised to use caution on area roads.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Friday Helena Police (HPD) and Helena Fire responded to a rollover crash on Interstate 15 by the Prospect Ave. overpass.
Assistant Chief of Police Curt Stinson told MTN a large white truck headed eastbound on Prospect tried to brake on the icy bridge deck. The vehicle ended up jumping the curb and going through the metal gate on the bridge deck, landing on it's roof.
Stinson is advising everyone to avoid going out during the storm if at all possible, and slow down and plan ahead for any trips.
"Particularly for this evening while the snow is falling and until DOT the county and the city can catch up on roads, use common sense and if you don’t have to go out don’t go out," said Stinson.
The driver went to the St. Peter's Health to be checked out for minor injuries.
Interstate traffic was down to one lane in the north-bound direction white crew worked at clearing the wreck.
Please remember, if you are approaching an area where emergency crews are working, slow down, and move to the far lane to give them room to work.
