Cooling off for the weekend

After a hot week, things are cooling off for the weekend. A low-pressure system will move slowly through Montana, bringing widespread showers and cooler temperatures. While there could be a few thunderstorms this weekend, the benefits of the rain will outweigh the risk of lightning strikes sparking new fires.

Temperatures this weekend will be in the mid-70s. It'll be a cloudy, slightly gloomy weekend, but this will all be good for fire suppression.

Next week, after the low passes through, westerly flow will resume, bringing warmer and drier weather for the beginning of next week. Scattered disturbances will potentially bring some isolated thunderstorms later next week, but we'll stay overall much drier than this weekend.
