Happy Fall! Autumn officially began at 6:05pm on Tuesday, but the next few days of the new season will feel more like summer with much of the state warm, sunny and dry. An area of low pressure will continue to bring a few showers and thunderstorms to mainly southern and eastern Montana through Tuesday night and Wednesday. The storm will quickly move out of eastern Montana through Wednesday with some isolated storms lasting into the afternoon. It will be warm, dry and mostly sunny for western and northern Montana on Wednesday. Highs will mainly reach the 70s to around 80. Thursday will be another gorgeous day with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s and 80s. Friday will be even warmer with some places in the plains approaching 90. Many areas will have highs in the 80. The wind will increase in the afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front. Gusts will top 30-40mph in some areas. A few isolated thunderstorms are possible in western Montana late in the day. A cold front will move through the state Friday night into Saturday. There will be some showers and high mountain snow across northwest Montana into Saturday morning. Saturday will be cooler and blustery with strong west wind. Highs will drop into the 50s and 60s. Saturday night will be chilly with lows down in the 30s. Sunday will be partly cloudy with highs in the 60s to around 70, and much lighter wind. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible on Monday, but no major early fall storms are likely. Enjoy the warmth!
