In Addition to Critical Fire Weather, a Few Passing Storms will Kick Off Today!

and last updated

A Fire Weather Warning remains in effect for central Montana until tonight.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for eastern Montana until tonight.

Critical fire weather conditions continue for the state, aside from the hot temperatures, and expected low humidity. A few thunderstorms will kick off late afternoon/early evening. Portions of southwest and southeast Montana are currently at a marginal risk for storms, meaning isolated to severe thunderstorms are possible. The biggest threat to today's system will be the erratic wind and frequent lightning. The highs will remain in the 80s, 90s, and a few areas in eastern Montana will hold on to temperatures in the triple digits.

Tomorrow a cold front will pass through the region, and slightly drop the temperatures. The highs will stay in the mid to low 80s, and the temperatures will drop from the triple digits into the upper 90s in eastern Montana. The skies will remain partly cloudy, and the chances for widespread scattered thunderstorms remain likely.

Friday, upper-level ridging will help the region stay hot, dry, and sunny going into the weekend.

Always remember, any fire can ignite quickly and easily, and spread rapidly under these dry and breezy conditions.

Have a great day,

A.R.😊
