Periods of Mountain Snow for the West

Posted
and last updated

A FLOOD ADVISORY will remain in effect until noon for the Jefferson River near three forks due to an ice jam.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for northwest and west-central Montana until 11 am.

A cold front will keep periods of light snow lingering in the mountains west of the Divide; a few scattered showers may even spill into the mountains of central Montana. Mountain passes along the Idaho border are covered with snow, so please give yourself enough time to leave if headed in that direction. The highs will climb to the upper 30s and 40s.

The first day into the new year, a ridge of high pressure will return to the area, which will keep us dry. Daytime highs will climb 10- 15 degrees above average.

The first weekend of the New Year will be windy and relatively warm. Saturday, another front will move in and bring another round of snow to the mountains west of the Divide.

Sunday will be extremely windy; strong winds will aid in a few locations daytime highs reaching the 50s.

Happy Holidays.
