Thursday is the first day of October and a lot of cloud cover will work over Montana. The clouds will not stick around long though as this weekend will be sunny and beautiful. Thursday will be mostly cloudy and there could be a very isolated rain shower over central and eastern Montana. Highs will be cooler in the 50s and 60s because of the cloud cover. Friday will turn partly cloudy with a very isolated rain shower or thunderstorm across eastern Montana. Highs will warm into the 70s with a west wind gusting up to 20mph. The first weekend of October is looking absolutely spectacular with plentiful sunshine and temperatures rising above average in the 60s and 70s with light wind. Some places in the state may hit 80 on Monday! There does not appear to be much in the way of cold air, rain, or snow coming to Montana through the beginning of October. Enjoy the glorious weather.
Over the next few days, prescribed burns by the Forest Service will produce large smoke columns south of Helena.
