Relief from the Heat is Here

Here comes some relief from the heat. The final few days of July and the first weekend of August has been the hottest time of the year so far, with some areas of the state flirting with triple digit heat. A cold front moving out of the state on Monday evening will bring temperatures back down closer to average for at least a little while. Cooler air will be felt across the state Monday night into Tuesday morning with lows dropping back into the 40s and 50s. Tuesday will be a pleasant summer day with sunny skies, light wind and cooler highs in the 80s. Wednesday will be sunny with light wind, highs will warm slightly through the 80s to around 90. The next chance for scattered thunderstorms will occur on Thursday. Highs will be in the 80s and low 90s. Storms will produce rain but also lightning strikes. A couple of the current wildfires burning in the state were started by lightning strikes. Behind Thursday's storms will be another cooler airmass with highs lowering into the 80s again on Friday. This weekend will be warm, sunny and dry with highs reaching through the 80s into the 90s.
Have a great day.
