Our second cold front has passed through Western Montana, and another system is on the way.

Wind picked up early this morning as the front passed, but gusts around 30 MPH will be possible through this evening.

A Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect for Flathead Lake, Flathead Valley, Mission Valley, and Polson through 6 PM tonight (Friday).

Our next round of rain and snow showers move into the forecast early tomorrow morning.

Expect rain in lower elevations around 2-4 am Saturday morning while snow falls across Montana mountains and passes.

Passes will be the most affected from these next rounds of storms moving in this weekend.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for areas across Western Montana and Eastern Idaho upper elevations from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon and evening.

Snow accumulation through Sunday could be up to a foot in some of the Western Montana passes including Lolo, Lookout, and Lost Trail passes.

Rain turns to snow in lower elevations on Saturday night into Sunday morning and Sunday night into Monday morning.

Valleys will see little to no accumulation through these nights/early mornings, so we are expecting impacts to be minimal in lower elevations.

The rain and snow won’t be over by the end of the weekend though.

More rain and snow continue through midweek next week.

Temperatures remain below average through the extended forecast.
