Stormy weather will hit Montana just about every day this week as a big area of low pressure will affect the state. Scattered thunderstorms will continue through Monday evening into the night. Tuesday will start out mostly cloudy and fairly quiet, but that will not last through the afternoon. Strong to severe thunderstorms will develop across much of central and western Montana. These storms could contain large hail up to 1" in diameter, wind gusts up to 60mph, frequent lightning and heavy downpours. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Flooding is possible, especially off of the Rocky Mountain Front where heavy rain will be more concentrated. Wednesday the severe threat will shift into eastern Montana, but once again showers and thunderstorms will be scattered throughout the state. Low pressure will intensify over southern Canada on Thursday, spreading more showers, mountain snow and strong wind through the state. There will be some sun mixed in at times, but most of the state will be rather unsettled. Another low pressure will move into Montana on Friday with showers, thunderstorms, and snow that will drop below mountain pass levels. Memorial Day Weekend will start out with scattered showers, thunderstorms, sunshine and mountain snow on Saturday. Temperatures will be cool with a good west wind. Much nicer weather moves in on Sunday with mostly sunny skies and highs up in the 60s and 70s. Memorial Day itself will also be nice and warm, but a few thunderstorms could move in later in the afternoon. Overall the weekend does not look that bad.
Have a great day.
