Good Morning and welcome to October! Today is Thursday, October 1, 2026.

September was a decent month for precipitation in Montana as several locations received near to above average precipitation for the month, including Cut Bank, Glasgow, Havre, and Helena. Cut Bank had a whopping 3.76” of rain in September, which is over 2.5” above average for the month. Out of the major climate locations in north-central Montana, all have near to above average precipitation for the year so far, with the exception of Cut Bank and Havre.

Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy again today and there will be some areas of fog around this morning. A few isolated showers are possible, but most locations will remain dry. Cool temperatures will persist, with highs again in the 60s and upper 50s. There will also be little to no wind around today with sustained winds of 0 to 15 mph.

Warmer temperatures return tomorrow, with highs climbing into the upper 60s and 70s. Breezy conditions will also return to many areas on tomorrow with sustained winds of 10 to 25 mph, and gusts up to 40 mph are possible. The strongest wind will be along the Rocky Mountain Front and across southern portions of north-central Montana. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny tomorrow.

The first weekend of October is shaping up to be a beautiful one as an upper-level ridge will be in control of our weather. Saturday will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid to upper 60s and low to mid 70s. Sunday will feature abundant sunshine and mild temperatures with highs in the 70s in most locations. It will also be dry this weekend and there will be little to no wind.

Mostly sunny, warm and dry weather will continue on Monday and Tuesday as the upper-level ridge remains in control. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s and low to mid 80s, with the warmest temperatures expected on Monday. Breezy conditions will also return, with sustained winds of 10 to 25 mph, strongest on Monday.

On Wednesday, it is going to be partly cloudy, dry, and mild, with highs in the 70s. There will also be little to no wind.

Have a tremendous Thursday!
