Wednesday will easily be the hottest day of the year so far. Some towns like Great Falls, Lewistown and Cut Bank have yet to hit 90 in 2020. Highs across the state will top out in the 90s, with a few eastern areas touching 100. Sunny skies will start the day but isolated thunderstorms will develop near the Continental Divide in the afternoon. These storms will drift northeast through the evening. Thursday will be a cooler day with scattered thunderstorms developing through the afternoon and evening. Highs will be back down in the 80s. Storms will produce locally heavy rain, but also lightning strikes and erratic wind. Friday will be drier, sunny day with highs in the 80s. An afternoon breeze could increase to 20mph. This weekend will be warm, sunny and breezy. Highs will mainly be in the 70s and 80s. Another big warmup is on the way for next week. That airmass could become the hottest of the year.
Have a great day.
