Wildfire Danger to Wintry Conditions this Weekend

and last updated

A RED FLAG WARNING has been issued for Saturday for dangerous fire weather conditions.

Big changes will be felt across the state this weekend. After a warm, windy start with high fire danger, a strong cold front will move through. Showers, isolated thunderstorms and mountain snow will fly Saturday night into Sunday morning. Sunday will be another windy day but the temperatures will be much cooler. Isolated rain and snow showers will move across the lower elevations. Widespread snow showers are likely in the mountains. Another low pressure will move into the state on Monday with areas of rain and snow in the lower elevations. The mountains will see a few inches of accumulation. Highs will be much cooler, only in the 30s and 40s. Tuesday and Wednesday will be wet and cool with snow in the mountains at least. There will be periods where snow may mix in down in the lower elevations. The wet and cool weather will help suppress the recent critical fire danger.
Have a great weekend.
