Weekend Changes: Still Winter in the Mountains

Unfortunately the weekend weather will not be nearly as nice as Friday. Keep that in mind especially if you plan on heading up into the mountains where winter is still in full force. A cold front will move into the state with scattered rain and snow showers on Saturday. Although an isolated thunderstorm is possible over eastern Montana, most areas will be dry but very windy. Highs will be in the 40s and 50s but fall into the 30s later in the day. A secondary cold front will drop south through the state by Sunday morning with colder temperatures and a few more snow showers mainly in the mountains. The later half of the weekend will be much cooler with highs in the 20s and 30s, but more sunshine by afternoon. Sunday marks the beginning of March and the first workweek of the month will get pretty stormy. A parade of low pressures will move just to the north of the state, a continuation of the winter pattern. While there will be scattered showers of snow possibly mixed with rain, the wind will be the real story. Relentless, the wind will batter most of the state every day. While the wind strength won't be enough to cause damage, it will be annoying at least. The mountains west of the Continental Divide will have significant snow and the mountain passes will have affected driving conditions at times.
Have a great weekend.
