Jessica Nelson

Hello Helena! I have been all over the map the last 10 years (California, Washington, Iowa, Nebraska), and I am so excited to finally be settled here in Helena. You may notice on screen I seem taller than my co-workers, your eyes are not fooling you! I am 6’7 and yes, I do occasionally wear heels. Now that you know my off-camera secret, if you see me around town, please stop by and say hi. It’s important to me to get to know our viewers.

A little history about me, I am originally from Northern California. My passion for news began in 6th grade when I put together a mock TV news story regarding flooding for a class assignment.

After graduating high school I moved to Pullman, WA to play basketball for the Washington State Cougars.

I continued pursuing my passion for journalism when I landed an internship with NBC News in Los Angeles, CA. I spent the summer working with Today Show producers and national news correspondents. I returned to Pullman and finished my senior year graduating with a Bachelors in Communication: Broadcast News.

From there, I landed my first job in Sioux City, IA at KCAU9 News. I worked as a reporter, producer, weekend anchor, and lastly a morning anchor. It was during my 8 years in the Midwest that I met my wonderful husband and we started a family. We have two young boys, and we are very excited to show them all Montana has to offer!

I greatly appreciate viewer comments/feedback! Please do not be shy- add me on social media, send me your story ideas, and help me share the news of Helena!
