HELENA — Law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes teamed up at McKenzie River Pizza for a fundraiser where every tip helps create more opportunities for athletes across Montana.

“It is to help support the athletes, so we can travel and help with our food,” Tri-County Wolves Special Olympian Cody Kuhlman said.
Tip-a-Cop happens each year across Montana, usually falling on different days. This year, they all happen on the same day, as each restaurant competes to see who raises the most money.
Officers from multiple agencies took orders alongside an athlete.
“They get to work on their skills on talking to us, and we get to work on our skills of getting to know them," Deputy Alicia Bragg with the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.
To celebrate the event, Mackenzie River offers a special pizza called the Guardian, and two dollars of every Guardian pizza sold is donated to Montana Special Olympics. One hundred percent of the proceeds stay in Montana. Sixty percent stays in the tri-county area, and 40 percent helps cover statewide costs.
