HELENA, Mont. — It’s been 25 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a day that forever changed our nation. Across the country, people are gathering to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day and the heroism on display.

Montanans came together Friday at the Capitol for a remembrance ceremony.
The bell rang through the Capitol rotunda to honor fallen first responders and victims.
Prayers, a moment of silence, and speeches were shared about the events that unfolded that day.
The guest speaker was retired U.S. Air Force pararescueman, Nic McKinley, who shared his experience in pivoting to a counterterrorism deployment.
He says although the attacks changed a lot in our nation, one thing is constant.
“Our culture is never going to change; America is still always going to try to be the land of the free and home of the brave, and those brave people will be taking the fight to the enemy regardless of if they have muskets or laser beams,” McKinley said.
The remembrance was hosted by the Montana Department of Justice and brought together community members and first responders to never forget.
